About me
This page is all about me, what I do and why I do it. You'll find questions with answers on this page. For press inquiries, please see this page instead.
I stand with Palestine. Here's a list of trusted charities you can support.
Who I Am
Who even am I?
Hey there, I'm Spencer Ledger. I'm a college student.
Where am I from?
If not evident by my name, I am a British citizen. I have lived in Britain all of my life, though my family originates from Italy. I'm even learning Italian.
Where do I reside?
I live in Great Britain. I have never lived anywhere else.
What is my religion?
I am a non-denominational theist. For those who don't know, I believe in a higher power (such as a God) and the idea of an afterlife, but I don't follow any specific religion or religious doctrine. Do note, the definition of a non-denominational theist differs depending on who you ask.
What is my ideology?
I'm into democratic socialism; I think the state should support people, workers should have their say, and the economy should be fair and regulated. Without wanting to overload you with political information, you can visit my dedicated page for ideology if you're interested.
Am I a member of a political party?
Yes, I'm a member of The Green Party. I agree with almost all of their policies, and I'm an avid supporter of them. They will certainly get my vote when the time comes. #BackZack
What I Do
What do I study?
I am taking A-Level Religious Studies (Philosophy and Ethics), Politics and Sociology.
What's the most challenging thing I've done recently?
I recently graduated from secondary school. My final exams were quite stressful.
What's something I do in my free time?
I like to report phishing & malware sites to get them taken down. Not everyone's cup of tea, I know, but for some reason I enjoy doing it. You can find the list of sites I've taken down here.
What is the most important skill I think someone should possess?
Good patience, in my opinion, is a highly valuable quality to possess since different people communicate in different ways, and you'll need patience with some people.
Passions & Interests
What kind of music do I listen to?
I feel I should link my last.fm page here. Also, I have 3 main Spotify playlists, you're more than welcome to check them out:
What's my favourite band?
My favourite band is definitely Vampire Weekend. However, honourable mentions go to Ducks Ltd., The Decemberists, and The Postal Service.
What's my favourite song?
My all-time favourite song is Harmony Hall by Vampire Weekend, as it I have some personal ties to it, however, I'm currently listening (a lot) to the album Harm's Way by Ducks Ltd.
What book am I currently reading?
I'm balancing a bunch of books at the minute, but my main book is The Candidate by Alex Nunns.
What's something I like to do?
This is a question with endless answers, but it was submitted to me, so I'll try my best to answer it. I enjoy making new friends and talking with familiar faces. So basically, socialising. I also love engaging with politics (a recurring theme on this page, you'll see).
What's my favourite TV show/series?
I've rewatched Superstore multiple times, a show about a community of workers. Coming back to it, I see that it's rather pro-worker, and pro-unionist. I'd say give it a watch.
What's TV show/series am I watching now?
I'm currently watching SUITS, a show about a criminal turned lawyer. I recently got reminded that this show existed, as I began watching it way back in 2021, but never finished it. I'm finishing it now. I do plan to rewatch Better Call Saul at some point, though.
What's one thing I'm passionate about?
Politics, in the United Kingdom, mainly. Though, I do try and keep up-to-date with international politics. This all ties back to my Green Party membership; I'm very active in politics, and I recently took part in a Green Party Rally, and if you look hard enough, you can find me on the Eastern Green Party website banner (hint: I'm on the far left of the image).
What's a cause I strongly believe in and support?
I support the LGBTQ+ community and have previously donated to organisations like Stonewall. I believe in equal rights and making society more inclusive.
Personal Reflections
If I could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I'd love to visit the DPRK (North Korea). I find its politics and culture fascinating, though I can't say I support the regime. I've watched documentaries from a few non-NATO sources to get a more balanced view.
Who is someone I admire, and why?
I admire Dennis Skinner because he didn't sugar-coat things in Parliament. Do give his parliamentary clips a watch, he once said that Prince Philip should work in a kebab shop in North London.
What is my favourite quote?
"Welcome to the future, where everybody wants to live in the past." - Matt Haig.
If I could switch lives with someone for a day, who would it be?
This is a difficult one, so many people come to mind. I would have to say Sir Keir Starmer, I would love to know what it's like to be Prime Minister for a day.
